The theatre is of such great artistic value that it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site. The building is resplendent with sculpture, enamel, stained glass, mosaics, carving, and tilework, so much so that it bombards your senses. The inverted stained glass dome that sits atop the auditorium is also absolutely breathtaking, with its multitude of different colours. The extravagant stage, set in the auditorium which is renowned worldwide for its fabulous acoustics, is the scene of many jazz and guitar festivals, as well as concerts by both national and international orchestras. A very unusual venue is that of the Mercat de les Flors, on Carrer de Lleida, which was a former flower market.
