  • Musée de la Castre, situated in the medieval Château de la Castre in the Le Suquet area is a superb collection of archaeological finds from across the world. The museum was founded in 1877 to house a collection of some of the world’s finest artefacts, donated by Baron Lycklama. Exhibits range from African masks and Asian art to South Sea Island costumes and beyond. There are also displays hailing from Oceania, the Himalayas and the Americas, and exhibits of Mediterranean antiques and pre-Colombian ceramics. The collection is an enthralling insight into Lycklama’s fascination with antiquity, in particular the Orient. There is also one section of the museum displays Provençal and local paintings from the 19th century featuring landscapes of Cannes and the Riviera. A further highlight is the 12th century St-Anne Chapel alongside the castle, which houses the 'Musiques du Monde' exhibition, a magnificent collection of musical instruments from across the continents.

The Musée de la Mer is situated within the Fort de l'île Sainte-Marguerite, on Sainte Marguerite Island, one of the Iles de Lérins which are just off the coast of Cannes. The Musée de Mer's beautiful location is an attraction in itself, but the museum also has lots to offer. The museum contains a collection of nautical artefacts found amongst the waters off the Cote d'Azur. Certain shipwrecks from the area also make up some of the displays, as do temporary exhibitions. Past exhibits have included a photography exhibition on modern and traditional Mediterranean life. The Fort is also said to be the location of the imprisonment of the renowned “Man in the Iron Mask” of centuries past.

The spectacular gallery housed in the Bellini Chapel Museum is situated in the Parc Fiorentina on avenue de Vallauris. The chapel was designed in Florentine-Baroque style by Count Vitali in 1880, and was originally owned by Princess Kara-Georgevich of Serbia, but later became the studio of renowned local artist Emmanuel Bellini. The artist’s daughter Lucette, also a painter, today conducts tours for visitors around the chapel, where viewing highlights include canvasses painted in contemporary figurative style by the self-taught master.
