- There are many fine art galleries in Milan, each containing a spectacular collection of masterpieces in colour and design. The gallery is named after the great aristocrat Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, who travelled the world collecting different precious objects. The gallery is testament to the wide range of places Poldi Pezzoli visited, and there are exhibits shown from all over the world. Upon visiting many museums across Europe, Pezzoli discovered that they displayed decorative arts as well as fine arts in their exhibits, which inspired him to add many delicate pieces besides paintings to his collection. Therefore in this gallery visitors are able to view a wide range of different artefacts besides paintings, which include amongst their great number, sundials, jewels, mechanical clocks, laces and embroideries.
